A 21 years old boy, known as Tokunbo Lekan, pretends of been a member of Anglican Church Of Triumphant located at Obadiah Craig Street, Falola in Ipaja area of Lagos State while the other members never knew he wants to steal from the Church, in which he has been arrested by the Lagos State Police officers.
According to Tokunbo when he was bombarded with a lot of interrogations, he mentioned out what he stole from the church which worths upto N400,000 from the church, like generating set, electric wire, welding machine and other times.
He said he was trained as a mechanic but he abandoned that due to the fact that mechanic is not paying his bills, so he chooses to go into stealing from churches as that’s the only to patch things up.
Tokunbo who entered the church in the evening and stayed till 2am before carrying out what he was there for, was caught when he came back to pick his tools he forgot.
Some of the items he hid at nearby mechanic village were recovered before he was taken to Ejigbo magistrate court on Charges burglary and stealing from church.
Lekan who was found not been guilty of his actions, was granted bail with an amount of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
T.O Shomade the Chief Magistrate, adjourned Tokunbo’s case till March 22 for mention.
