Novak Djokovic overcame a neck
injury, stomach upset and also a confident Bautista Agut to claim a win in the
semifinals of the Western and Southern Open on Friday.
According to Djokovic who stated he
doesn’t know how he won, the Serb who dropped in the first set, was bothered
after he noticed a slight change in his body during the second set. He had to
take a medical timeout to try and stay in the game.
The Serb bounced back to steal a
win in the second set 6-4 and avoided a scare in the decider as Agut came out
to match his prowess. In the end, resilience paid off for Djokovic as he broke
Agut to progress to the final.
“He was the better player, but I somehow
pushed through,” admitted Djokovic. He also added that he was very happy after
the win despite how difficult it was for him and is looking forward to the
final.
