Champions League in Opta Stats: Man City vs Real Madrid, Juventus vs Lyon


The biggest club football competition returns after being postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. The opening game after the restart would see Man City host Real Madrid while Lyon pays a visit to Juve at Allianz Stadium.

Los Blancos were ahead in their last 16 tie against City, but a Kevin de Bruyne penalty and a Raheem Sterling strike secured a 2-1 advantage that the Premier League side will defend at the Etihad stadium.

Juve look to overturn 1-0 first leg deficit in Turin.

  • -          Juventus are unbeaten in their two home European games against Lyon. Winning one in April 2014 in an Europa League tie and settling for a draw in a CL game in November 2016.
  • -          Lyon have lost four of their past five European matches in Italy (D1 L4).
  • -          Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 18 goals in his last twelve (12) home Champions League knockout matches.
