CAF cancels Player of the Year award ceremony

Following the steps of UEFA and FIFA, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has cancelled this years’s Player of the Year award ceremony. CAF decided to cancel the award following a virtual conference on Thursday citing the same reasons UEFA and FIFA made few months back.

The European Football governing body, UEFA, few months back announced the 2020 UEFA awards won’t hold due to the outbreak of the coronavirus that halted the football season in Europe. World Football governing body, FIFA cited the same reasons.

Egyptian and Liverpool forward, Mo Salah, who won the award last year would remain the current holder of the CAF Player of the Year.
