The Federal Government has lifted
its ban on sporting activities implying that the Nigeria Football League would
soon resume. The FG announced the return of footballing activities without fans
in the stadiums. The announcement came through the Presidential Task Force for
COVID-19.
“Restriction is removed on outdoor communal
(non-contact) sports and use of recreational parks for supervised physical
exercise and sporting leagues to resume with no fans in stadiums and with
necessary NPIs to be directed by the Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth
Development and the NCDC,” Sani Aliyu, the national coordinator of the PTF
stated.
This reopening will come as a huge
relief for football enthusiasts who have longed for the return of sporting
activities in the country. With this in mind, the NPFL, NWFL, NNL and NLO are
expected to resume soon.
