FIFA orders the stop of FIF elections

Hours after the Football of Ivorian Federation (FIF) invalidated the candidacy of Didier Drogba to contest as the association’s President, the world football governing body has ordered the FIF should stop the elections.

FIFA stated that the elections can go ahead once the electoral process takes place in good condition and in compliance with it texts. FIFA wants the FIF to re-establish its electoral commission and is also requesting for the list of committee members as well as certain minutes of the assembly.

It is not yet known at the moment of this publication if FIFA intervened on its own or whether it acted following the request of Drogba’s camp who filed an appeal.
