Juventus appoints Andrea Pirlo as head coach on a two year deal

Andrea Pirlo

Andrea Pirlo has been appointed to replace Sarri as Juventus head coach. Maurizio Sarri was sacked earlier on today after Juventus were knocked out of Champions League by Lyon.

The World Cup winner won four titles in four seasons as a player at Juventus and was appointed 10 days ago to take charge of the club's U23 team.

A club statement read: "The club has decided to entrust him with the technical leadership of the first team after having already selected him for Juventus U23. Today's choice is based on the belief that Pirlo has what it takes to lead, from his debut on the bench, an expert and talented squad to pursue new successes."
