Quique Setien has been relieved of his duties as the head coach of
Barcelona after just six months in charge of the team. He took over from
Ernesto Valverde in January but still couldn’t resolve the rift that has
brought disappointments to the team and club.
“The Board of Directors have agreed that Quique Setien is no
longer the first team coach. This is the first decision within a wider
restructuring of the first team which will be agreed between the current
technical secretary and the new coach, who will be announced in the coming
days.” a statement from Barcelona read.
Setien leaves Camp Nou with just a year left on his contract. The straw
that broke the camel’s back was the humiliating defeat the Blaugranas suffered
in the hands of European opposition, Bayern Munich.
Barcelona, reportedly found a new successor, would announce the
new head coach very soon.
