Policemen chasing a suspected internet frauster have shot at a yet-to-be identified girl at Edjeba Community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Policemen,who were on routine patrol of the area,stopped the suspected internet fraudster(Yahoo boy) but he refused and sped-off.
The policemen gave him a hot chase and in the process,while trying to shoot at his vehicle tyres ,they shot the yet-to-be identified girl instead,who was later rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer,DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the report on Friday Morning in Warri.
DSP Onovwapoyeya said, "The policemen had reasons to suspect the vehicle and the guy was running.
So,they were chasing him. In the process,they shot his tyre and the bullet recurtiated(bounced back) and hit a lady.
"They said she is in stable condition now but the crowd now came out and obstructed the Police. The guy escaped with the vehicle.
Onovwakpoyeya noted that nobody died during the incident which caused tension in the area.
