“The numbers are not for us”, says Klopp

Jurgen Klopp has dismissed off suggestions that Liverpool could sign Lionel Messi but also said he would like to see him in the Premier League. Klopp said he would happily take the Argentine but also admitted that the Premier League champions are not out to sign him.

“Who doesn’t want to have Messi in their team? But no chance,” Klopp reiterated. “For the Premier League it would be great, 100 percent, having the best player in the world in the league. The numbers are not for us. We don’t have to start thinking about it. No chance, but, good player to be honest.”

Messi shocked the world of football by handing in a transfer request at Barcelona which has, lately, sparked speculations about his future. Manchester City, as it stands, are considered to be among the favorites to land the six time Balon d’Or winner should he leave the Camp Nou.
