Weigman in talks with England to become Women’s head coach

Netherlands Women coach, Sarina Weigman, is in talks already with the English FA to replace Phil Neville as England’s head coach.

The 50 year old woman led the Netherlands to victory at Euro 2017 and also reached 2019 Women’s World Cup final where they were bested by reigning champions, USA.

The current manager, Neville, will see his contract run down by July 2021. And with Euros having being postponed till July 2022, Neville confirmed he would not stay past his current contract.

Weigman first entered into management with Ter Leede and ADO Den Haag women before becoming assistant manager of her motherland in 2014. She was named as a manager on a permanent basis in 2017 after two spells, and seven months later, she steered the Dutch women to their maiden European success, beating Denmark 4-2 in the finals.
