Serena to play at the 2020 French Open

Former world champion, Serena Williams has confirmed she would be present at the French Open at Roland Garros which will begin on September 27. The 38-year old made the announcement after she suffered defeat in the hands of Victoria Azarenka in the semifinals of the US Open.

“Yeah, I mean, I am definitely going to be going to Paris,” she said on Thursday night when she was asked whether she would compete at Roland Garros. She also had something to say as regards to her defeat.

“I started really strong. Then she just kept fighting. She just changed and started playing better and better. Maybe I took a little too much off the gas pedal at some point. She played really well. It is obviously disappointing. At the same time, I did what I could. I feel like other times I’ve been close and I could have done better,” she said.

Serena would be looking forward to win at Roland Garros to add to her already 24 Grand Slam titles. The last time she won a major title was in the Australian Open in 2017.
