 Earlier today, we had a little conversation with fast rising Nigerian artist, David Sani who is popularly known by his stage name, Boizy. below is the full interview.

Exclusive Interview With “BOIZY” on Diva9ja

Diva9ja: So whats the name?

Boizy: I’m David Sani but people call me Boizy, so I go by the name Boizy

Diva9ja: What first got you into music?

Boizy: I’ve loved music ever since I was 9 but then I never wanted to be an artist until the day a friend of mine took me and my sister to a studio session where he sang around 2016, that day I saw him sing, it was that day I decided and made up my mind that I’m gonna be a full fledged artist since then I’ve got the passion for music.

Diva9ja: How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Boizy: I started with the Trap style of music but I was told trap won’t take me anywhere in this country so I switched to Afropop and soul music.

Diva9ja: That’s true based on the most popular style of music in the country, but artist like Cheque are making it big in the Trap scene. Doesn’t this say otherwise?

Boizy: Yes it does but if you look at it his style of Trap, it is kind of like an Afro Trap. 

Diva9ja: You could still do the same.

Boizy: Yes, I can but in the eyes and ears of people, you know the way the country is, they’ll be like “see this guy is copying Cheque’s style”.

Diva9ja: So you are basically an Afrobeats artist now.

Boizy: Yes, Afro pop, afro beat, afro trap and more. But I’m still a Trap artist I have 2 Eps I’m working on, 1 is fully Afrobeats and the 2nd is trap beats with my Boys

Diva9ja: What is your creative process like, how do you make your music, you write first or you listen to beats then get a vibe or are you more of a freestyle artist?

Boizy: I listen to beat first before I make my music. To be honest I can’t freestyle.

Diva9ja: Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Boizy: Wow, I would love to Collaborate with Teni, Simi And Fire boy.

Diva9ja: Why? 

Boizy: I love their style of music and their voices too are off the hook.

Diva9ja: If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Boizy: Teni

Diva9ja: You mentioned three artist, so why Teni?

Boizy: She’s my Favorite among the 3, I like her personality and her music.

Diva9ja: Is that a “Crush”?

Boizy: I wouldn’t call it a crush (smiles)

Diva9ja: How many songs have you released so far, and which is your best?

Boizy: My best is “My Heart Weeps” but most people like “I Need Help” and “Over Me”. They’re all on Audiomack. 

Diva9ja: What’s next for you?

Boizy: Right now I’m working on a EP named “My Generation”, it’s my latest upcoming project and it consists of 5 songs. Mostly Afro beats and soul music.

Diva9ja: How soon should we be expecting it?

Boizy: Around December.

Diva9ja: Is it certain?

Boizy: No, I’ve been working on it for a while now.

Diva9ja: What is one message you would give to your fans?

Boizy: Ok, the message I would give to my Fans is to always stay positive think big make those steps take those risks and sore higher for the best and I love em all.
