A woman has been apprehended for severing her husband's genitalia during a minor dispute in Ogun.
The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a 28-year-old woman, Ogunlana Yemisi, on charges of allegedly assaulting her husband, Idowu Adebowale, aged 31, and severing his genitalia with a sharp instrument.
The command's spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, made this announcement in a statement issued to the press on Monday, October 21, 2024.
It was reported that Adebowale approached the police on Monday, claiming that his wife assaulted him with a sharp object at approximately 4:30 am on October 15, following a minor dispute.
In response to this report, detectives swiftly proceeded to the location, resulting in the arrest of the suspect, as stated by the Public Relations Officer.
During the interrogation, the wife refuted the allegations; however, considering the seriousness of the injury and the duration for which the complainant had not sought medical assistance, he was issued a medical form and instructed to visit the hospital.
The suspect remains in custody, and the case will be referred to the Special Crimes Investigation Division in Abeokuta for further examination.
This matter will undergo a thorough investigation, as it pertains to a suspected case of uncontrollable anger leading to domestic violence.
