Diego Costa tests positive for coronavirus

Atletico Madrid striker, Diego Costa has tested positive for the coronavirus and is currently self-isolating, his club announced.

 

The club conducted pre-season tests for their players who are not on international duty but Costa wasn’t among as he had already tested positive during the holidays. Atletico has stated that he is currently isolating and is asymptomatic. As a result, he won’t take part in the group training scheduled for Friday.

 

The 20/21 La Liga season would begin on September 11 but Atletico alongside three other Spanish clubs have been given additional time to prepare for their new season due to their European participation last season.
