Neymar and Gonzalez exchange words racism allegations

PSG vs Marseille will be remembered as one of the most tensed games in the 20/21 season. The Le Classique was not without enough drama as Marseille snatched a 1-0 win over the Parisiens in what was their first win over PSG in a decade.

With their three points intact through the heroics of Flora Thauvin, the goal scorer, the match has been overshadowed with series of incidents that took place during the game. The most notable being Neymar and Alvaro Gonzalez, whom the Brazilian claimed to her racially abused him.

Neymar was sent off in injury time after VAR appeared to have reviewed a situation where Neymar slapped Gonzalez in the head. Neymar as he was heading off the pitch explained to the fourth official by noting Gonzalez racially abused him.

The Brazilian later took to his Twitter handle to express his annoyance. His words on Twitter were translated by Goal:

“My only regret is not hitting that a*****e in the face.”

“VAR spotting my attack is easy. Now I want to see it pick up the image of the racist calling me MONO HIJO DE PUTA. That’s what I want to see. And then? I do a rainbow flick, you punish me…for a slap, I get sent off…what about them? What then?”

Gonzalez also responded to the claims of racism by tweeting too. He uploaded a picture of him and his teammates with a caption:

“There is no place for racism. Sometimes you have to learn to lose and take it on the field. Incredible three points today.”

But Neymar wasn’t having any of it as he lashed back at the Spaniard in a tweet that read:

“You are not a man to assume your mistake, losing is part of the sport. Now insulting and bringing racism into our lives no, I don’t agree. I DON’T RESPECT YOU! YOU HAVE NO CHARACTER! Assume what you say mermon…be a MAN RAPAI RACIST.”

There will be no doubt a full investigation conducted by the Ligue 1 authorities. There is no place for racism.
