Sebastian Vettel signs for Aston Martin…replaces Sergio Perez

Four time world champion, Sebastian Vettel has put pen to paper to join Aston Martin, formerly Racing Point, to spearhead their new era. He would replace Sergio Perez who announced on Wednesday night that he would be departing the team.

Ferrari informed Vettel earlier in May that his contract won’t be renewed. His new contract with Aston Martin was not stated as to how long he would be with the team but Aston Martin said the 33-year old would join for the 2021 season and beyond.

“It’s a new adventure for me with a truly legendary car company. I have been impressed with the results the team has achieved this year and I believe the future looks even brighter. I still have so much love for Formula 1 and my only motivation is to race at the front of the grid. To do so with Aston Martin will be a huge privilege,” Vettel said.

Vettel will drive alongside new teammate, Lance Stroll for the 2021 season. He also said he believes he can build something very special with his new teammates while praising Stroll’s energy and commitment.
