Sergio Perez tests negative for COVID-19


Mexican driver is back for Racing Point at the Spanish GP in the pit after testing negative for COVID-19. Perez was ruled out of the two previous races at Silverstone with Nico Hulkenberg having to replace him. But his latest negative test has had him cleared to return to action and drive this weekend.

 

Racing Point Team confirmed also in their tweet, “We’re pleased to share the news that @SChecoPerez has tested negative for COVID-19. The @fia have confirmed that Checo can return to the @F1 paddock and he will compete for the team in this weekend’s #SpanishGP.

 

The 30 year old returns for Racing Point and it is likely he will be competitive at ircuit de Catalunya. Stand in Hulkenberg has already stepped aside for his teammate.

 

Perex has finished in the top seven in all three races he has competed in this season.
