The Nigeria Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare, inaugurated the Implementation Committee of the Report of the Ministerial Taskforce on National Stadium, Lagos. He said the ministry has begun a journey to restore the monument to its original glory.
In his statement, he said, “The committee’s role is to ensure
delivery of the facilities at the stadium in line with the new vision of the Ministry
on the comprehensive audit at the National Stadium, Lagos. This is a monument
of national pride which has suffered neglect for over 18 years due to limited
resources. We have seen a departure from its original blueprint to a point in
which you could hardly recognize the National Stadium Lagos as a sporting
facility.”

The Minister showed confidence that the committee set up and
headed by Gabriel Aduda, Secretary to the Ministry of Youths and Sports
Development, will carry out their task of restoring the monument to former
glory.
The inauguration of this Implementation Committee took place on
Monday, August 10.
