Leeds extend head coach’s contract by a year



Newly promoted Premier League side, Leeds have confirmed that head coach Marcelo Bielsa has penned down a one-year contract extension with the club to be in charge for another year after they got promoted to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.

 

Bielsa initially signed a two-year contract in 2018 when he arrived with an option to extend for another season but everything has been sorted out for him to remain in charge at Elland Road for the 20/21 season.

 

“I will be working the next season at Leeds United. Everything has been sorted and it is definite that I will be here next season,” the Argentine said. Leeds will begin their new season against reigning champions of the Premier League, Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

 

“Leeds United are pleased to confirm Marcelo Bielsa has signed a new one-year deal with the club to remain as head coach for the 20/21 season. Bielsa last season guided Leeds to the Sky Bet Championship title, winning the league by 10 points and creating history in the club’s centenary campaign,” a club statement read.
