A 15-year-old boy has been charged by prosecutors in Washington for the murders of his parents and three siblings in a residential area of Fall City, located near Seattle.
Andrew Humiston is facing five counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder related to the tragic events that occurred on Monday, as reported by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the bodies of his parents, Mark and Sarah Humiston, along with three of his siblings, aged 7, 9, and 13.
Additionally, an 11-year-old girl, one of the suspect's younger sisters, sustained injuries during the incident but has since been discharged from a hospital in the Seattle area. She reportedly escaped by pretending to be dead before seeking assistance from a neighbor, as detailed in an arrest affidavit submitted to the Superior Court of Washington for King County.
The individual responsible for the shooting was apprehended at the location of the incident and is currently being detained at a juvenile facility. During a court session on Tuesday, he chose to forgo his right to be present, and the presiding judge established probable cause to detain him on five charges of murder and one charge of attempted murder. Both law enforcement officials and his legal representatives confirmed that he has no previous criminal record.
Molly Campera and Amy Parker, the attorneys representing the accused, did not provide an immediate response to a request for comments regarding the charges filed on Thursday. Following the initial juvenile court proceedings, they issued a statement emphasizing that their client has no history of criminal activity. They characterized him as a teenager with interests in mountain biking and fishing.
