The New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP) has said the crisis in some of the opposition political parties in the country was instigated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in a bid to retain power beyond 2027.
This was said by Ajuji Ahmed, the National Chairman of the NNPP during the flag-off campaign for the party’s Ondo state governorship candidate, Olugbenga Edema in Akure on Thursday.
Ahmed also placed the APC at the centre of inflaming the politics of the opposition parties by fissioning the members to destabilize their structure to dominate them.
As per his statement, the APC in this development is coming in the midst of off the opposition political leaders plans for a ”merger talk” in a bid to unseat the ruling party ahead of the general elections.
“APC has its eyes pried on the 2027 general election and takes every step to achieve its goal,” he stated. “The evidence for their interference in other party is self-evident.”
He can completely resign himself to the fact that the power will have to be handed over to the opposition after the regime of Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu and stamp that the Affordable Care Act is in coalition with opposing forces for the 2027 political contest.
Another NNPP executive stated how the party is ready for any ‘open door’ policy that seeks to unite all parties in order for them to succeed at the polls.
“NNPP is ready to capture Ondo, we plead with the people to storm out and vote out the Edema in the election,” he stated.
He stated that Edema is part and parcel of the party, whose policies and politics would work for the state and end the economic and present hardships imposed by the APC government.
While addressing supporters at the campaign, Edema, called on the Independent National electoral Commission (INEC) to allow all the political parties fair opportunities to compete in the elections.
The NNPP governorship candidate also pointed out that the party is prepared to tour the opposition in the next elections, cautioning the electoral body not to perform the alleged ‘electoral fraud’ exercise witnessed during elections in Edo state.
“Last one is what happened in Edo state with the fraud. How they moved from all the collation centres and doctored the official results which were sent from the marshalled polling units was distressing.
“They carried the result from the collation centres to the INEC offices which is also abuse of sections of the act which clearly states that you can only count the votes and results at the places where the election has taken place.
“Hence we are saying the people of Ondo state are not the people of Edo state. Ondo is not Lagos. The people of Ondo are amongst the most educated across the entire country and we can defend our votes, and we shall defend it. We do not fear them. We will challenge them,” he said.
