Spanish giants, Barcelona, are set to announce the current
Netherlands boss, Ronald Koeman, as the successor to Quique Setien this week. Setien
faced the sack after Barca’s 8-2 heavy loss against Bayern.
Koeman, currently in charge of Netherlands, will tender his
resignation from the national team. He played for Barcelona for six years and
has been favored amongst other candidates as a potential replacement.
He won the league title four times as a player, going ahead to win
the Copa del Rey and European Cup as well. He has made no secret of his desire
to be in the dugout for the Blaugrana in the future. Now, he has got his dream
job.
Mauricio Pochettino, Marcelo Gallarado and Barca B coach, Garcia Pimienta were all touted to take up the new role but the Barca board preferred Koeman.
