The four-time Premier League Champion, Vincent Kompany, has
retired from professional football. After leaving Manchester City at the end of
18/19 season, he joined Belgian team, Anderlecht, as player-manager and
transited into a new position as co-manager to Franky Vercauteren.
“I want to fully commit to
my role as a coach and need 100 percent of my time and focus for it. That’s why
I’m quitting as a football player.” he told Anderlecht club website.
Many have since paid tribute to Kompany following his announcement
including the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Pablo Zabaleta and Cesc Fabregas.
