Nick Kyrgios slams Djokovic of lack of leadership and humility

Nick Kyrgios

The 25-year old Australian has slammed Novak Djokovic of lacking leadership and humility after he tested positive for coronavirus earlier this summer. His comments came after the world no. 1 was asked in New York about his possibility of going through 2020 unbeaten.

“Hell of a tennis player. May go unbeaten in 2020, can’t take that away from him. Unfortunately when he was supposed to show some leadership and humility he went missing. Majority would say he has taken an L regardless,” Kyrgios posted on his official Twitter account.

Djokovic was among the squad of Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric and Viktor Triocki, who all returned positive tests after partaking in the Adria Tour – a tournament organized by Djokovic himself in June.

Although the tournament didn’t breach any official protocols in the venue, Djokovic was still criticized after players hugged each other and posed for photographs and also attended joint press conferences. He has since apologized and stated that the event was organized with the best of intentions.
