Tottenham are the favorites to land Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid
for 30m pounds after they accepted to insert a buyback clause in the deal with
Madrid’s insistence. Spurs have also agreed personal terms with the 23-year old
defender.
The Spaniard spent last season on loan at Sevilla and was keen on
playing Champions League football with Sevilla and Manchester United showing
interest in signing him. Real Madrid’s stance on inserting a buyback clause
collapsed the negotiations between them and United. The player’s agents stepped
up a new negotiation with Tottenham which is close to completion.
Spurs accepted a buyback clause from Real Madrid of about 45m
pounds but it is subject to rise due to incentivized add-ons included in the
deal. Madrid also demanded a clause that they get the opportunity to match any
bid Tottenham accept for the player.
Also, Spurs have reportedly opened talks in another deal with Real
Madrid to sign Gareth Bale.
