UEFA Champions League: Atalanta vs PSG

Atalanta’s memorable first UEFA Champions League campaign resumes with a one-off quarter final against Paris Saint Germain at the Estadio da Luz. While the Italian side are in only their third European quarter final (and their first for 29 years), PSG are in their UCL last eight for the fifth time in eight seasons and are looking to reach the final four for the first time since 1995.

In what will be an intense game, it is important to note that both clubs have posted positive results in their post-lockdown matches. Atalanta won 9 and lost just 1 of their 13 Serie A matches played between 21 June and 1 August. In the process, they made sure of a second successive third place finish in the log.

PSG didn’t relent either as they took part in two friendly games that saw them bag a total of 15 goals in both while topping it with a cup double with wins over Saint Etienne and Lyon.

Both of these clubs will be hoping to make Lisbon the setting for their greatest chapter over the next 12 days. For PSG, it has been far from a happy hunting ground in the past as their three previous visits to Estadio da Luz have all ended in defeat.
