No more gender difference in remuneration, CBF announces

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has instated a new remuneration programme that will see the men and women team receive equal pay. The programme will come into play by 2021 and Brazil will be joining Australia, Norway and New Zealand as one of the few nations to do so.

“The CBF has equaled the prize money and allowances between men’s and women’s football, which means the women players will earn the same as the men. What they will gain by conquering or by staging the Olympics next year will be the same as the men will have. It will be proportionally the same as what FIFA proposes for women, that is to say, there is no more gender difference in remuneration between men and women,” Rogerio Caboclo, CBF President said.

The news was welcomed by the head coach of the women’s national team, Pia Sundhage, who stated she is grateful for the new development.
