Atletico Madrid boss, Diego Simeone
has tested positive for coronavirus, the club announced. He is asymptomatic and
already self-isolating at home.
“This Friday new PCR tests were
carried out on the whole group and the manager has given a positive result. Fortunately,
our manager is not showing any symptoms and is at his home isolating and
fulfilling the required quarantine,” the club statement read.
Atletico are not in action in the
first match day of the new La Liga season after they appealed to La Liga to
allow them some time due to their late involvement in Europe last season. Their
first league game of the season will be against Granada on September 27 but
they would face Cadiz on Tuesday in a friendly game.
